KW Cares

Dan Swisher is a family man who continues to persevere despite life throwing quite a few curveballs his way.

Dan joined the KW Family in 2016 after ten years in the real estate industry. He was drawn to the value system—God first, family, then business—as well as the dedication and impact of KW Cares.

By then, Dan was used to navigating his life in a wheelchair after a traumatic spinal cord injury left him paralyzed from the chest down in 1998. In 2014, he had bilateral above-the-knee amputations.

A New Obstacle

But after years of overuse, Dan began to experience deterioration in his shoulders. He needed a power wheelchair.

The new wheelchair gave his shoulders a rest, but he faced a new hurdle. In order to continue in real estate, Dan needed a mobility vehicle, which cost tens of thousands and wasn’t covered by insurance.

A Needed Solution

Dan’s Market Center leadership encouraged him to apply for a KW Cares grant.

“I didn’t think I’d qualify, much less deserve it, but to my surprise, the grant was quickly approved and I was overwhelmed. It felt unreal.” —Dan Swisher

Along with the KW Cares grant, his Market Center created a fundraiser that raised him another $10,500. The new van was purchased and Dan was back in action!

“I’m forever grateful to be a part of this family called Keller Williams, and will always remain a strong supporter of KW Cares. From my whole heart: thank you, thank you, thank you.” —Dan Swisher
