One of the lesser-known programs here at KW Cares is our funeral grants. Often, a family is unprepared for the financial burden of laying a loved one to rest. As part of our commitment to Family Helping Family, KW Cares offers funds to pay a portion of these expenses so every family can mourn with dignity

One of our recipients, Vincent J. Cataldo III, shared with us what a funeral grant meant to him when his father passed away.

My name is Vincent J. Cataldo III

I lost my father unexpectedly to cardiac arrest. As you can imagine, this has been an incredibly difficult experience for both my mother and me. I have been with Keller Williams for over five and a half years and have always taken great pride in my loyalty to this company. I’ve held multiple positions here and have found immense joy in working with our amazing agents and contributing to our supportive culture.

However, with my father’s passing, the financial burden has become overwhelming. My father and I lived together for 31 years, and I wish I could provide him with a proper burial, but my current income from my leadership position isn’t enough to cover these expenses. With my mother relying on me now more than ever, I want to be strong for her and help alleviate any stress during this painful time.

Losing my father has been one of the hardest things my mom and I have ever gone through. On top of navigating the emotional toll, we were faced with the financial burden of his funeral, which came to $15,000. Growing up Roman Catholic, it was always my parents’ wish to be buried, and I couldn’t bear the thought of my mom living with any lifelong regrets. To make that wish come true, I ended up putting $10,000 on my credit cards to cover the costs.

During this difficult time, KW Cares stepped in and provided me with a $5,000 emergency grant. I am beyond grateful for this support, as it allowed me to give my father the proper burial he deserved. Without that help, I don’t know how I would have managed.

I also want to express my deep appreciation to my KW market center in Daytona for their incredible kindness in surprising me with a GoFundMe. Their generosity helped reduce the financial strain and brought much-needed relief to my family during such a challenging time.
