Kristen Parker is a mom of three from Atlanta, Georgia. She works as a Relationship Manager for Anna K Intown.
She first noticed a change in her son Sam right after his eleventh birthday. He was suddenly tired all the time and he didn’t quite know how to express what he was feeling to his parents.
During a family vacation, Sam got to the point where he could barely walk twenty feet without having to rest. At an amusement park, he just went from park bench to park bench. They ended up in the emergency room.
A Frightening Diagnosis
Bloodwork showed that Sam had T-cell ALL, an acute form of leukemia in which too many abnormal T-cells are produced in the bone marrow.
“We didn’t find out for a while, but he was days away from passing.” —Kristen Parker
The doctors sat them down and discussed a treatment plan for Sam—one that would take four years.
How You Help through KW Cares
Today, Sam is a healthy 15-year-old sophomore who spends much of his time on a baseball diamond. Through the donations of KW associates, KW Cares provided funds to help the Parker family with medical expenses and lost wages during Sam’s four years of treatment.
