KW Cares

When disasters like Hurricane Ian strike, KW Cares responds swiftly with emergency aid. But agents in the affected areas aren’t left to fend for themselves in the weeks and months of rebuilding that follow. KW Cares continues to provide relief until all qualifying needs are met.

When Ian hit in 2022, KW Cares ultimately provided over $4 million in assistance and grants. Here are just a few of the stories of those impacted.

Karla Gusching

Saint Cloud, FL

After Hurricanes Ian and Nicole, Karla’s well ceased to provide water to her home. Despite having both homeowners and flood insurance policies, her homeowner’s claim was denied due to the adjuster attributing the damage to storm surge, while the flood policy’s adjuster cited uncertainty about the cause.

“KW Cares stepped in as an absolute lifeline. Their financial assistance not only helped us install a well but also provided the stability we needed to move forward. Their support came at a time when we felt the weight of uncertainty, and their generosity has made a lasting impact on our lives. I want to express my deepest gratitude to KW Cares for their compassion, understanding, and willingness to help families like ours who face unexpected challenges.” —Karla

Miranda Stripling

Port Orange, FL

The Stripling family’s home sustained severe damage from Hurricane Ian, resulting in over $146,000 in repair costs. Despite having a homeowners policy with hurricane coverage, they did not live in a flood zone and did not have a flood policy.

“I cannot put in words just how truly touched I am to be a part of the Keller Williams team. When my entire home flooded with Hurricane Ian, we lost everything. We were devastated. I, my husband, and our 6 children were homeless and I wasn’t sure what I was going to do or how I would come up with enough money to get my home back together, but my KW family came through! We are now back in our home and for that, we will never be able to thank you enough!” —Miranda

Brian D.

Sarasota, FL

Brian’s home was severely damaged by Hurricane Ian, but they had a high insurance deductible. Tree and debris removal expenses weren’t covered under their policy. The storm’s impact on the real estate market added to their hardship.

“KW Cares was such a blessing to my family and me during a time when many other people around me were struggling with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian. This grant meant that my family could focus on rebuilding and regaining what we lost. It meant that I was able to help ensure that our home and property were safe to live in and that we did not have to worry about where or when we would find the money to complete the repairs.” —Brian
