Grant Guidelines
The purpose of KW Cares grants is to assist Keller Williams associates with extreme hardship as a result of emergencies and unforeseen and/or unpredictable circumstances over which the potential recipient had no control, and which are not of a recurring nature.
KW Cares financial assistance isn't intended to cover all the costs and losses people incur in a difficult situations, but rather to help those who are in serious financial need due to an unforseen cirumstance, and significant hardship would result without the assistance.
The KW Cares Board of Directors will look closely at the level of involvement and direct support that the intended recipient has received from the local Market Center. This is not to say that grants won't be made to individuals unless their Market Center has also contributed. However, the MC and/or Region will be asked to explain if no support has been given.
Cash grants are given by KW Cares to a KW agent or associate in situations of extreme emergency or financial hardship. The need cannot be for debt relief or compensation for lost wages. Rather, it is a gift that helps the individual to make ends meet and relieve a significant burden, preferably to pay for something specific. Grants require a written request and an application, and should allow 30 days for Board approval, unless circumstaces require a more immediate response.
Please note that although a candidate may meet the grant criteria, grant approvals are dependent upon many factors which the Board must carefully consider, and therefore not every qualified applicant will be approved.
When You Know Someone Who Needs Help
For a KW agent or associate to receive financial assistance from KW Cares, his or her "need" must fall within the KW Cares grant criteria, and a grant application must be completed (see "How to Apply"). Allow a several weeks for Board approval, although in exceptional circumstances this timeline may be accelerated. If the Board approves the request, the Market Center will be free to begin contributing to KW Cares to assist that individual, and donations will be tax deductible. Additionally, the person may be approved for a matching cash grant from KW Cares.
Grants are distributed directly to the Keller Williams Realty individual named on the grant application. Market Centers may not be named as recipient. Funds will not be distributed to health care or other creditors for the named recipient.
