FEMA's website provideing up to date information on the response to the Southern California Wildfires can be found at FEMA as well as informational documents about handling crises during wildfires.

Residents in Southern California that are affected by the Wildfires are encouraged to contact FEMA to receive assistance by calling (800) 621-FEMA (3362) or visting FEMA Assistance Center.

Hurricane Katrina

Hurricane Katrina victims in Alabama’s three declared counties as well as evacuees from other hard-hit Gulf Coast states are reminded that the only way to register for federal and state disaster assistance is by calling the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s toll-free teleregistration line at 800-621-3362.

“Registering with FEMA is the essential first step that people must take in order to be eligible for our assistance programs,” said FEMA Federal Coordinating Officer Ron Sherman. Sherman said that registration with any other agency, local government or the American Red Cross does not enlist applicants for state/FEMA aid.

FEMA also has activated the National Emergency Resource Registry to coordinate donations from businesses willing to assist with major needs such as housing, transportation and supplies. It is able to match donors to specific needs in the affected area. Businesses can access the database at www.fema.gov and click on the "Help the Victims of Hurricane Katrina" to register to provide relief.
